Aaron Fowler is a native Kansan. He grew up in Topeka and moved to Wichita, Kansas to attend Friends University. He received a BA degree in Music Education and went on to Wichita State University where he received a Masters in Music Education (Conducting). Aaron's career includes 11 years of public school education in both elementary and middle school (1984-1995).
Aaron is a founding Artist of Arts Partners Wichita (1995), a Young Audience Affiliate and is a Wolf Trap Early Childhood Artist. He is also a member of American Federated Musician, Local 1000 Touring Musicians Union since 1995.
In 1990, Aaron, his wife and their three sons moved to near-northeast Wichita, the lowest socio-economic area of the city, in order to live and work in the community. As part of this work he co-founded Hope Street Youth Development. The organization works with middle and high school students providing leadership opportunities including academic and youth organizing. This experience allowed Aaron the opportunity to listen and work closely with students. Aaron uses folk music, storytelling, and discussion all designed around helping students reach their full potential.
